The mother's name is under the tree, as in that's her current location in the real world.

Maybe the tree is her mother! MAYBE THE TREE IS ACTUALLY GROOT'S SECRET SISTER! AND THE GIRL IS HALF TREE HALF HUMAN!

I'm actually a little confused by some of the stuff .
"Are my feet sinking into the floor"
"or is it just me?"
Is this Frank speaking? And
"Please help the costume is heavy and there are no hooks left for me"
I don't get it. Like, "I don't get it so I don't know the intended scare" confused.
But other than that this is a pretty creepy story.
