I have 1 alt simply because 1 kills and ..1 is a  (fantastic) doctor that only attacks enemies that i may come across whilst exploring. I have come across this bug a few times but this last one annoyed me because it got me killed.
I logged on to Dr Fantastic, and someone from an enemy clan came on the same tile as me, so I tried to hit them, resulting in me hitting myself for 2 of the 3 times that can be seen in the screenshot.
I moved about 2 or 3 tiles away and tried attacking "a vampire" and again hit myself. They then shredded me as I had no way to fight back and not enough ap to outrun them.
This is not simply my alt being close or attacking the same person, as I was at the bottom of dobwood and my alt (Mrs Claws) was at the top of west underlook.
Check out screenshot to see proof of the combat, I left only the relevant part and I can provide the full screen to show the rest if needed.

Thanks.

Sorry to say, but, you either attacked that character or group with your alt within a couple hours, it's not a bug.

Although, since the map is smaller, I am going to lighten up a bit on the tile radius restriction...

Hmm if you say so. Thanks for replying so fast :) Can you direct me to a post or something that details how this works? As I don't intend to alt abuse, just play 2 different ways with a bit more AP to mess around with instead of 1 character and then having to leave the game for a few hours :)
It would help me avoid the..self owning with nightsticks and such.
Again thanks!

-Doc

I asked for a vamping from Fullretard, but he couldn't because he kept hitting himself and chewing his face. I mad! >:( but giggling inside too.
not only that but he somehow became a Zombie when he killed himself.

group
Seriously, still? This map is too small to restrict same-group actions. If it still applies to same-group attacks then it's no wonder everyone's biting themselves in the face left and right.

Keep in mind there's a window of time involved, too. It's not attacking someone, then attacking the same group 3 hours later. This was basically put in place to avoid alts rushing a group-controlled area/building/etc.

If we can truly say that nobody cares about that happening, then........................ . ... . . ... ...
If I should live until I wake, I pray the web my death to fake.

What about instead you just make it so that if your alts are within a certain distance of each other it does this?

>Entering the radius gives this message like how the alt-abuse lock did.
* You sense an uncanny familiarity and it makes you nervous. You can't focus very well.

>Attempt to attack a player while in the radius
* Your nervousness causes you to fumble and hit yourself. You lose 1 HP.
>Attempt to hit a barricade while in the radius
* Your nervousness causes you to fumble and hit yourself. You lose 1 HP.
>Attempt to revive someone while in the radius
* Your nervousness causes you to fumble with the injector.
>Attempt to attack the same person as your alt
* You feel as though you know this person and can't bring yourself to attack them.

So on and so forth.

It at least gives people a chance and an obvious way of knowing when their alts are too close together. This way there's no confusion, people don't murder themselves instantly, and there's no harm done.

I go with Tyr's idea, it would improve things ten-fold.

There are different radii so the message upon entering wouldn't really work.
But I suppose what I will do at least is make it more clear that what's happening is due to the anti-alt abuse thing.

Well okay. I was hoping it could be made less punishing but still effective because, let's be honest, 9 times out of 10 it's being triggered on accident.

For gods sake leave it as it.

At the most just make a message when people first log in that there are harsh rules around alt abuse and to learn them or they'll suffer adverse effects.

i like tyr's idea. how difficult would it be to implement a system that just prevented a player from interacting with the same objects/players that their alt has interacted with in the last couple hours?

I imagine literally so easy.

Like it already checks who your alts have attacked or healed, so it would be changing it from locking you to forbidding you to attack them with any other characters.
